After the game, Koundé admitted that he felt very good but still needed to get back to his best level, Barca Universal reported.

He added that he was happy to finally play as he had come to Barca to win titles and continue growing as a player.

Koundé started the game in the right-back position but was moved to his preferred centre-back position at the hour mark. However, he admitted that while his natural post was in the centre, he was happy to play right back if the coach needed him to.

Why did Koundé play at right back for Barcelona?

Barcelona have one specialist right back in the side in Sergino Dest, but the defender has fallen out of favour at the club. Barca have yet to sign a new defender for the position, with Dest hoping he will be allowed to prove himself in the side if no replacement is found.

Robert Lewandowski's goal-scoring form continued as Barcelona defeated Real Vallodolid 4-0 at the Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday.

The Pole scored a brace for the second game in a row for the Catalan giants as Xavi Hernandez gave a starting role for Jules Kounde for the first time.

Lewandowski opened the scoring on 24 minutes to set Barca on their way before teenage midfielder Pedri added a second on the stroke of half-time at the Camp Nou.
