“The more solutions that I have as a manager, the better,” Xavi added.

He explained that the club were putting together a great team and his objective was to return Barcelona to the top of the world.

Piqué has been a stalwart at Barca for 13 years now. He’s played 603 games for the club during that time, scoring 53 goals and providing 13 assists, TransferMarkt reported.

He enjoyed another successful year at the club last season on the field, but his personal life dominated headlines more.

Fans have since turned on the defender and many felt that the negative publicity would be a reason why Barcelona would part ways with the player.

Gerard Piqué booed vs Real Madrid, receives chants of 'Shakira, Shakira'; Video

Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué had a night to forget during the friendly match between his side and Real Madrid in Las Vegas.

The Catalan giants defeated the Los Blancos 1-0 thanks to a strike from new signing Raphinha.

Raphinha notched the only goal in the 27th minute after he intercepted a wayward pass to secure the win.

Piqué came on in the second half but was greeted by boos when he first touched the all. He continued to get booed and received chants of 'Shakira, Shakira' every time he was in possession.
