  • Barcelona were humiliated by Frankfurt as the German side defeated their hosts 3-2 right at the Camp Nou
  • President of the Spanish club Joan Laporta has lambasted the club officials for allowing over 30,000 Frankfurt fans into the stadium
  • Manager of the side Xavi also lamented the situation, claiming the scenario did not help as his players are also asking questions

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has blasted the club officials for allowing more than 30,000 Frankfurt fans into the Camp Nou as they crashed out of the Europa League.

The Catalan giants suffered an embarrassing loss at home as they were surprisingly knocked out of the Europa League by the German outfit.

The Blaugranas were convincingly outplayed by the Bundesliga side 3-2 in front of a capacity crowd at the Nou Camp who had hoped for another glorious European night.

Fans in white were obviously more in the stands as they cheered the visitors to a 3-0 lead before the hosts scored two late goals, which were not enough.

Barcelona president Laporta lamented how the club officials could have allowed such a number of opposing fans into the stands. He said as per Mirror:

"It’s a disgrace what has happened. I feel embarrassed. I was surprised that there were so many people from Eintracht Frankfurt in the Camp Nou stands. The club should look at that."

Manager Xavi Hernandes was furious with how Eintracht Frankfurt managed to get 30,000 fans inside the Nou Camp - a notion shared by his players.

Xavi said:

"Clearly the atmosphere did not help and the club is looking into why this happened. The players want to know why too. It was a clear miscalculation on our part. This cannot be allowed to happen. It was more like a final with the stadium divided."

Frankfurt goalie shares romantic moment with sweetheart

Meanwhile, German goalkeeper Kevin Trapp put up a splendid performance for Eintracht Frankfurt as the Bundesliga outfit stunned FC Barcelona at the dreaded Camp Nou.

But the most iconic moment for Trapp was when he took time off the celebratory mood to share a romantic moment with his lover.

In a post on Twitter, Kevin Trapp was captured sharing a kiss with Izabel Goulart, who is a Brazilian fashion model, at the end of his side's huge coup.

West Ham through to Europa League semis

Sports Brief earlier reported that West Ham United marched on to the semi-final of the UEFA Europa League thanks to an emphatic victory over Olympique Lyonnais.

The English side ran out 4-1 winners on aggregate, after beating the home side 3-0 on the night.

The first leg had ended 1-1 a week earlier.
