Talented Southampton FC youngster, Kgaogelo Chauke, has officially obtained his South African passport.

The highly-rated star was born in Pretoria but moved to the United Kingdom with his parents when he was 1-year old.

Born in Mamelodi, the captain of Southampton’s reserve side was recently on holiday in South Africa and sorted out his passport while in the country, FarPost reported.

Chauke now holds dual citizenship in South Africa and England and is eligible to represent either Bafana Bafana or The Three Lions.

Chauke has played in 20 English Premier League 2 (the reserve league) games this season and has previously represented The Saints in the FA Cup, TransferMarkt confirmed.

He was also on the bench when the side welcome Liverpool in a Premier League encounter last year. Chauke often trains with the first team and has caught the eye of coach Ralph Hasenhuttl.

The English national team are keen to get the youngster into their under-23 setup while the South African Football Association also expressed interest previously in securing his services.

With his South African passport now completed, Bafana have hope that they can prize away the promising talent to represent the country.

Tariq Lamptey has agreed to switch his nationality from his country of birth, England to Ghana, according to London-based Ghanaian coach Freddie.

The marauding wing-back has been on the wishlist of the Ghana Football Association and the news of his nationality switch will be warmly received with the AFCON qualifiers on the horizon.

Lamptey has represented England at the youth level and recently received a call-up to the England U21 in March but is still eligible to play for Ghana and if the account of coach Freddie is anything to go by then the Brighton defender will be committing his future to the West African nation.
