And according to Barcelona-based portal Sport, Ronaldo is keen to join Diego Simeone's side due to two main reasons.

The newspaper claims that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner doesn’t want Lionel Messi to overtake him as the top goalscorer in Champions League history.

Ronaldo has scored 140 goals in the Champions League since he started playing competition in 2003. with Messi registering 125 strikes.

The Portugal captain believes he might lose that record Messi if he fails to play for Champions League team next season.

The second reason, per the reports, indicates that Ronaldo's partner Georgina Rodriguez wants to go back to Spain and above all, to Madrid.
