The 2024 summer transfer window is rapidly approaching, and a host of Nigerian players are currently linked with moves away from their respective clubs.

At the forefront of these rumours is Victor Osimhen, whose immediate future has become a hot topic, with several clubs in the English Premier League and the French Ligue 1 are eyeing the possibility of signing the 2023 CAF Africa Footballer of the Year.

However, it is important to note that Osimhen is not the only Nigerian player attracting interest from elite clubs across Europe.

With this in mind, Sports Brief highlights four Nigerian players who could secure big-money transfers in the summer window.

Nigerian players set to make big money transfers

George Ilenikhena

The Royal Antwerp FC forward, who became the youngest Nigerian to score in a UEFA Champions League match at just 17 years old against Barcelona in December 2023, is reportedly attracting interest from Italian Serie A side Inter Milan.

The timing of the interest in the attacker coincides with the departure of veteran forward, Alexis Sanchez.

According to data courtesy of Fotmob, the forward has been involved in 14 goals so far for the Belgian outfit.

Philip Otele

The CFR Cluj forward is another expected to make a significant transfer this summer window.

The 25-year-old has been one of the Romanian club’s standout players as they chase a spot in next season’s edition of the UEFA Champions League.

The versatile attacker has continued to be courted by Premier League club Brighton, and it is little wonder the Seagulls are chasing a transfer for the forward, considering he has been involved in 16 goals and eight assists this season.

Wilfred Ndidi

The Leicester City midfielder is poised to finalise a move away from the King Power Stadium as his contract nears expiration.

The dynamic midfielder has attracted interest from La Liga giants, Barcelona, who are closely monitoring his situation. Additionally, Ndidi is being considered as an option for Premier League side, Arsenal.

Victor Osimhen

The Napoli forward is undeniably the most coveted centre-forward heading into the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old is currently linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea. Where Osimhen ultimately lands, following what seems like an inevitable transfer from Napoli, will surely be a storyline worth monitoring.

Finidi submits list for South Africa’s clash

Sports Brief in another report stated that the coach of the Nigerian team, Finidi George, has submitted the squad list to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the Super Eagles' clash against South Africa.

The 53-year-old submitted a list featuring 35 players, including a bulk of those who featured at the AFCON.
