According to Sky Sports, the 31-year-old penned an 18-month contract, with an option to extend for a further year after his move to the Emirates.

The Italy international was in the final six months of his Chelsea contract, with the Blues deciding to cash in on him now rather than lose him for free in the summer.

Jorginho's move to Arsenal saw him become the seventh player to dump Chelsea for the Gunners in the history of the Premier League.

Sports Brief takes a look at the six other players who swapped Chelsea for Arsenal.

1. David Luiz

David Luiz joined Arsenal in the summer of 2019 and signed a two-year contract with them.

The Brazilian defender had made over 240 appearances for Chelsea before he joined the Gunners.

2. Willian

Willian dumped Chelsea for a move to Arsenal in 2020 on a free transfer.

However, he endured a tumultuous spell with the north Londoners and was unable to see out the rest of his contract with them.

3. Petr Cech

Widely regarded as a Chelsea legend, Petr Cech stunned fans after he sealed a surprise move to Arsenal in the summer of 2015.

The former goalkeeper's move to Emirates came after he had made 400 appearances for the Stamford Bridge-based outfit.

Cech went on to spend four years with the Gunners, making more than 100 appearances for them across competitions.

4. William Gallas

William Gallas spent six years at Stamford Bridge between 2001 and 2006 before he moved to Arsenal.

The former France international went on to spend five years with the Gunners, making 101 appearances for them.

5. Lassana Diarra

Lassana Diarra did not have one of the best spells in the Premier League.

The Frenchman joined Chelsea from Le Havre and spent three years with them before he moved to Arsenal in 2007.

The former midfielder went on to make only seven appearances with the Gunners.

6. Yossi Benayoun

Nicknamed "The Diamond from Dimona', Benayoun moved to the Premier League in 2005 with West Ham United.

He later sealed a move to Liverpool before he joined Chelsea in 2010.

His struggles with the Blues saw him shipped out on loan to Arsenal, where he spent the 2011/12 season.

Jorginho reveals Arteta's long admiration

Sports Brief earlier reported that Arteta has admired Jorginho since 2020 and made attempts to sign the midfielder but was unsuccessful.

Jorginho revealed it was not possible then, not because of his wish but other factors involved which proves he has also been open to moving across London.

Had he moved when Arteta first came calling, he would have missed out on winning the three trophies Chelsea won under German manager Thomas Tuchel.
