Arsenal bounced back to winning ways with a comprehensive performance that saw off Southampton at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners were without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whom Arteta revealed was absent because of disciplinary reasons.

That did not matter, though, as the Gunners were impressive all afternoon, as stand-in skipper Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring in the 21st minute after a sleek move from his side.

Martin Odegaard then doubled his side’s lead six minutes later with a header from close range coming from Kieran Tierney’s cross.

A thoroughly dominant performance was capped up with a goal from Gabriel in the second half to seal the victory.

The visitors did not look like scoring for most of the game, and were restricted to long-range efforts.
