Three points off the game see Brazil through to Qatar 2022, but Neymar was lucky not to have been punished following an incident with the match official.

A late strike by Lucas Paqueta handed the Selecao victory in the game ensuring they are 18 points clear of fifth-placed Colombia who have only five matches left to play.

Neymar had a bust-up with centre-referee Tobar as early as the eighth minute of the game having made a confrontation and shouting at into his face before making contact with his chest.

However, referee Tobar ignored calls and did not even give the Paris Saint-Germain a single card, allowing Brazil to continue the match will all 11 players.

Tite’s men are the first South American side to book their place in Qatar.

Meanwhile, Neymar was recently forced to clarify comments he made about potentially retiring after next winter’s showpiece.

"I said something, but people understood a different thing." the PSG star said.
"I said that, yes, this would be my last World Cup and that I would face it in the best way possible.
"I will give my best to be there at 100% because it's as if I had a game the next day, it's how I go about it. If there's a game tomorrow, that game to me, it's as if it was the last one in my life.”
