Ghana's assistant coach Otto Addo unavailable for 2021 AFCON due to Dortmund work

The senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars have been dealt with a huge blow after it was announced former player and assistant coach Otto Addo will not be available for AFCON 2021.

The Borussia Dortmund assistant manager has chosen to continue his work with the Bundesliga outfit during the Nations Cup.

During Tuesday's naming of the provisional squad, Milovan Rajevac confirmed the absence of the German-based trainer.

“Coach Otto Addo will be unavailable for the upcoming tournament. It’s a big lost for us but we will try and find his replacement," revealed Milovan Rajevac to the press.

Otto Addo was named assistant coach following the sacking of C.K Akonnor and his backroom staff in September, 2021.

The former Ghana player has been with the team through the World Cup qualifiers, but wont make it for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Nations Cup begins on January 7, 2022 and ends on February 6, 2021.

Milovan Rajevac confident of AFCON success

Earlier, SportsBrief.com reported that, Black Stars trainer Milovan Rajevac is cautiously optimistic of Ghana's chances at next year's Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The Serbian tactician named a 30-man provisional team for pre-AFCON camping on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Ghana Football Association secretariat.

In a meeting with the press, Milovan Rajevac said he is confident his team can end Ghana's 40-year trophy drought.

Ghana coach Rajevac names 30-man provisional squad

Milovan Rajevac has named a 30-man provisional squad for next year's Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The team includes four new players, with Khalid Abdul Mumin and Salis Abdul Samed earning their first ever call ups.

In a list released by the Ghana Football Association, the squad also includes four players from the Ghana Premier League.
