Did Vinicius 'beg' fans to allow Paqueta to take 2nd penalty?

In the viral video, a section of the crowd, mostly Brazilians, expressed their displeasure as Paqueta stepped up to take the penalty after his initial miss in the first half.

The fans voiced their frustration by jeering the West Ham United midfielder.

Despite being on the verge of a hat-trick and having the opportunity to take the penalty himself, Vini Jr. chose to back his teammate.

He gestured to the crowd to calm down and support Paqueta instead.

This proved to be the right call, as the 26-year-old confidently converted the spot kick, sealing Brazil's victory and eliminating Paraguay from the competition with their second defeat, The Athletic reports.

According to The Guardian, his expertly dispatched goal, added to first-half strikes from Savio and Vinicius, ensured Brazil's first win at the Copa America with a 4-1 victory.

The win propels Dorival Junior's men to second place in Group D behind Colombia, their final-group-stage opponents.

The moment not only highlighted Vinicius' leadership but also underscored the importance of team solidarity in the face of pressure.

Vinicius pays homage to Neymar during Paraguay game

Relatedly, Sports Brief reported that Vinicius paid homage to Neymar with a themed celebration after scoring twice in Brazil's second-group match against Paraguay.

Instead of his usual dance, he adopted Neymar Jr.'s signature gesture: hands on top of his head with his tongue out.

The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star explained on X (previously called Twitter) that this gesture is directed at his critics.
