Kaizer Chiefs will face a huge task in replacing Siyethemba Sithebe after the South African midfielder was released alongside two other experienced players.

The 31-year-old is now a free agent after spending two seasons at the Naturena since joining them from AmaZulu FC in 2022.

Sports Brief looks at five midfielders who can replace Sithebe at the Soweto Giants this summer.

Five midfielders to replace Sithebe at Amakhosi

1. Grant Margeman

Margeman is one of the midfielders linked with a summer move to Kaizer Chiefs, and it could be the perfect time for the Glamour Boys to go all out for the SuperSport United star.

The South International can play as an attacking or defensive midfielder; his preferred position is centre midfield.

2. Bongani Zungu

The South African midfielder left Mamelodi Sundowns this summer, and he's seeking a new project ahead of next season.

The former Rangers star has been tipped to return to Europe, but Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly monitoring his situation.

The Glamour Boys can opt for the Bafana Bafana star if they want another experienced midfielder to replace Sithebe.

3. Chawanangwa Kaonga

Kaonga has been on Kaizer Chiefs' radar for weeks now. The club is looking to improve its attack after a poor season in the DStv Premiership.

With Sithebe's exit, the Zanaco FC star is a player who can offer more in attack for Amakhosi.

He can be deployed as a supporting striker in addition to his preferred attacking midfield position.

The Malawian international also has experience in South African football, as played for TS Sporting between 2020 and 2021.

4. Kingsley Michael

Michael was a surprise summer target for Kaizer Chiefs, but the Nigerian international could be on his way to South Africa after convincing Amakhosi scouts.

The player's agent and DSV Leoben are left to decide his future, and he is a versatile midfielder who can fit perfectly into the Chiefs squad.

5. Jayden Adams

The South African international was one of the best players in the Premier Soccer League last season due to his performance for Stellenbosch FC.

The 23-year-old, who has been tipped to join one of the big clubs in South Africa, scored three goals and registered six assists last campaign, according to Transfer Markt.

Sithebe, 8 others missing Kaizer Chiefs training

Sports Brief earlier reported on Sithebe being among the nine players who missed Kaizer Chiefs' first pre-season training session ahead of the forthcoming season.

Amakhosi are regrouping a month after the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign.
