A young fan who invaded the pitch to get a selfie with Cristiano Ronaldo during the Euro 2024 has broken his silence.

Portugal's Group F clash against Turkey on Saturday, June 22, was marred by a string of pitch invasions, which plunged the tie into disarray.

According to Goal, with the score at 3-0 in favour of Selecao, a young fan dashed onto the pitch to take a selfie with Ronaldo.

The yet-to-be-identified young fan evaded the stewards before he made his way to the Al Nassr star, who gladly took a picture with him.

Perhaps inspired by the success of the young boy, five more fans invaded the pitch, with one grabbing Ronaldo's neck in a worrying breach of security.

However, they were unsuccessfully in their hope to take a selfie with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, with the stewards springing into action to contain the situation.

A day after the series of pitch invasions, the young fan who successfully got a selfie with Ronaldo broke his silence.

Speaking via Sportskeeda, the youngster disclosed that he had lied to his father that he would use the bathroom before his daring action.

He went on to describe the moment as a dream, saying:

Meanwhile, Portugal's victory in the tie secured them a spot in the last 16 of the European tournament with a game to spare.
