Bayern Munich striker, Harry Kane, has fired a warning to his England teammates following their recent defeat to Iceland.

Kane was part of the Three Lions squad that suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat at Wembley on Friday, June 7, in their final Euro 2024 warm-up match.

According to The Independent, a sharp move from Hakon Arnar Haraldsson in midfield saw the ball slipped through to Jon Thorsteinsson, who cut inside and drilled a low shot to beat goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale, at the near post.

The defeat sparked concern about England's preparedness ahead of the summer continental showpiece in Germany.

Having already named his final squad for the tournament, fans were curious to have a first glimpse of what Gareth Southgate's men could offer.

However, the team was unable to make a good account of themselves, with Thorsteinsson's goal the only difference.

Kane fires warning to England teammates

Kane, who will be returning to Germany with his fellow countrymen, has now sounded a warning to his teammates ahead of the Euros.

Speaking after the Iceland defeat, the former Tottenham Hotspur talisman warned that the Friday loss 'could be a nice wake-up call' for the team.

"Of course, there will be some noise about it [losing to Iceland], but I think there is a lot of optimism from the fans and rightly so," the 30-year-old said via the BBC.
"Ultimately it is down to us to make sure we get it right on the pitch. This could be a nice wake-up call for everyone to realise it is not going to be as easy as people think. There is a lot of work to do," he added.
