Jude Bellingham's Ballon d'Or prospects were said to have taken a hit following England's lacklustre draw with Denmark on Thursday, June 20.

The Real Madrid star experienced one of his least impactful performances as the Three Lions escaped with a point in their Group C clash, with the Danes largely dominating the game.

Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 18th minute, marking his fourth consecutive major tournament goal.

However, the Red and Whites equalised through Morten Hjulmand's powerful 25-yard strike in the 34th minute, Eurosport reports.

In contrast to England's opening match against Serbia, where Bellingham's man-of-the-match display included the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory, the 20-year-old struggled to make an impact against Kasper Hjulmand's charges.

According to ESPN, the former Borussia Dortmund captain failed to register any shots on target, lost 10 duels, made only three recoveries, and created just one significant chance.

Fans question Bellingham's Ballon d'Or chances

Fans were quick to criticise Bellingham's subdued performance, questioning his status as a world-class talent.

This has inevitably cast doubt on his Ballon d'Or candidature, with some fans suggesting the Stourbridge-born midfielder may be overrated.

@InvertTheWing made a harsh claim about Bellingham's Ballon d'Or chances:

"I’m sorry, but Jude Bellingham winning the Ballon d'Or would be the biggest stain on the sport and completely ruin its credibility."

@FCB_ACEE, another user who appears to be a Barcelona faithful and a Lionel Messi fan, said:

"This sport is actually cooked if this guy managed to win the Ballon d'Or."

@AvadaxKedavara cheekily quizzed:

"And people want Bellingham to win the Ballon d'Or?"

@nigertale added:

"Tap-ins don’t win Ballon d'Or award."

@iam_igumira concluded:

"He’s nowhere near where Madrid PR merchants think he is."

Bellingham criticised by Germany star Fullkrug

Sports Brief also previously reported that Germany striker, Niclas Fullkrug, critically assessed Jude Bellingham at the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

After making a brief appearance in Die Mannschaft's 2-0 win over Hungary, which sealed their place in the next round, he commented on the English star.
