According to ESPN, the legendary midfielder had considered retiring from international football in 2022 ahead of the Qatar World Cup before he decided to continue for another year.

However, following an incredible 10-year stint at Real Madrid, Kroos confirmed in May that he had resolved to retire from football after this summer's European Championship.

"After 10 years, at the end of the season this chapter comes to an end," Kroos posted on Instagram.
"I would particularly like to thank everyone that welcomed me with an open heart and trusted me. But especially I would like to thank you, dear Madridistas, for your affection and your love from the first day until the last one," he continued.

However, the 37-year-old has been offered a golden chance to reconsider his decision and continue playing beyond the Euros.

SPORTbible reports that Real boss Carlo Ancelotti has disclosed that the door is open for the German international to return to Santiago Bernabeu and continue playing.

“I already told Toni Kroos…if he changes his mind, maybe in the next months, just one phone call and we start again!” Ancelotti said in an interview with Il Giornale.

Kroos won 22 trophies with Los Blancos, including five Champions League titles.

5 players to win the UCL six times

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Kroos is among a handful of players to win the Champions League on six occasions.

The legendary midfielder won the tournament for the first time in 2013 with Bayern Munich.
