After winning their first trophy in 1972, the Germans returned strongly to bag their second one in 1980, a 2-1 win over Belgium in the finals at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome. The final was on 22 June 1980, attended by around 47,860 fans. Hrubesch scored two West Germany goals in the 10th and 90th minutes.

UEFA Euro 1996
