The 2024 UEFA European Championship kicks off this week.

France and England are overwhelming favourites to win the 2024 Euros. Both teams have star-studded squads led by Mbappe and Jude Bellingham.

Hosts Germany and Portugal are also considered favourites to win the tournament behind Les Bleus and the Three Lions.

Football's best talent will grace the pitch in Germany. Mbappe, Bellingham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane, Phil Foden, Bruno Fernandes, Kevin De Bruyne, Florian Wirtz, and Pedri are some of the top stars in the Euros.

Ronaldo won the Golden Boot in the 2020 edition after scoring five goals, the same as Patrick Schick of the Czech Republic.

Patrick Kluivert, Savo Milosevic, Milan Baros, David Villa, Fernando Torres, and Antoine Griezmann have also won the Golden Boot in the 21st century.

Here are the supercomputer's top 5 favourites to win the Euro 2024 Golden Boot, according to 90min.

Top 5 Golden Boot contenders at Euro 2024

5. Jude Bellingham - England

Bellingham is fresh from winning the UEFA Champions League and La Liga with Real Madrid and hopes to lead the Three Lions to glory in Germany. He ended the season as the club's top scorer, narrowly missing the league's Golden Boot award.

The 20-year-old has scored three times for England, twice in friendlies and once at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The former Borussia Dortmund man and Harry Kane are expected to carry the scoring burden for Gareth Southgate's team.

4. Romelu Lukaku - Belgium

The former Manchester United striker has been unfairly criticized in the last few years. However, he has always scored consistently, especially for his country. The 31-year-old has 85 goals in 115 games for the Red Devils, including five at the World Cup, six in the Euros and 10 in the Nations League.

Only five players have scored more in international football history, per UEFA. He bagged 14 times in the Euro 2024 qualifying phase, a new record for a qualifying campaign. He will be Belgium's key player alongside Kevin De Bruyne.

3. Cristiano Ronaldo - Portugal

It is incredible that Ronaldo is on this list despite getting closer to celebrating his 40th birthday. The Al-Nassr veteran has been playing international football for 20 years and has not shown any signs of slowing down. He has scored 14 times in the Euros, more than any other player. The Real Madrid legend is also the all-time top scorer in international football.

He has a young and talented Portugal squad in Germany that will help him score important goals and win another international trophy.

2. Harry Kane - England

The Bayern Munich striker had a historic season in the Bundesliga. He bagged 36 goals to win the Golden Boot but missed out on the Bundesliga title. Kane is England's all-time top scorer, with 63 goals in 91 matches. The former Tottenham Hotspur man was the top scorer at the 2018 World Cup. Moreover, he has won the Premier League Golden Boot on three occasions.

The England captain will lead the line for England alongside Bellingham and is expected to score the goals to lead his country to their first European title.

1. Kylian Mbappe - France

At 25, Mbappe has won nearly everything in football: the European title and the UEFA Champions League. He won the 2022 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot after scoring a historic hat-trick in the final against Argentina. This year, France are even better than they were in 2022. The new Real Madrid star could be the key to France winning their first Euros since 2000.

Teams with most to prove

Sports Brief earlier reported on the top three teams with the most to prove at the 2024 UEFA Euro.

England, Portugal, and hosts Germany will be under pressure to deliver big performances because of their talented squads and years of underachievement.
