The 2023/24 football campaign has wrapped up in most parts of Europe and Asia, with Nigerian players once again dominating the headlines for their superlative performances all season.

The Super Eagles missed out on the gold medal at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year but that did not deter players from achieving remarkable feats with their clubs in Europe.

Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella played crucial roles as Bayer Leverkusen secured the club’s first Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal titles in Germany.

Several other Nigerian stars made their impact felt at different clubs as Ademola Lookman ended Atalanta’s 61-year wait for a trophy after netting a hat-trick in the final of the European League to win the title for the Italians.

Sports Brief, alongside Soccernet, has drawn up a list of the Super Eagles best eleven players in all departments from the 2023/24 football season.

The 26-year-old forward managed 15 goals and three assists in 24 league games for the Partenopei and ranks behind Lautaro Martinez and Dusan Vlahovic in the 23-man team.

Osimhen has been linked with a move away from Napoli this summer, with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain among the clubs said to be keen on signing the Super Eagles striker.

Osimhen ruled out of World Cup qualifiers

Sports Brief also previously reported that Osimhen has been ruled out of Nigeria's forthcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and the Republic of Benin.

The Nigeria Football Federation released a statement on social media confirming his unavailability for the two games next month after the striker was ruled out for four weeks.
