Victor Osimhen’s pending departure from Napoli could initiate the possible reunion of Antonio Conte and Romelu Lukaku at the Italian club next season.

The Partenopei has confirmed Conte will take the reins at the club for the 2024/25 campaign and one of his first tasks will be to find a replacement for the Nigerian forward this summer.

According to Soccernet, Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move away from Diego Maradona Stadium, with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly keen to secure the striker’s signature.

The 25-year-old forward joined Napoli from Ligue 1 outfit Lille in 2020 and has established himself as a formidable force, scoring 76 goals and making 18 assists in his 133 appearances for the Italian club.

Osimhen has reportedly played his last game for the 2022/23 Serie A champions and Conte must now identify the perfect replacement for the Nigerian when the transfer window opens.

Conte eyes Lukaku reunion at Napoli

Conte will reportedly turn to former Manchester United and Chelsea outcast, Romelu Lukaku to replace Osimhen at Napoli when the transfer window opens, per Roma Press.

The Belgian striker’s loan spell at AS Roma has come to an end and he is expected to return to Chelsea, who are desperate to get rid of his large salary off their wage bill ahead of next season.

Conte and Lukaku won the Serie A together at Inter Milan in 2021 and the pair will hope to re-enact the same success at Napoli next season if they eventually get reunited.

Osimhen linked with Saudi move

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Valter De Maggio has claimed that Osimhen could be moving to the Middle East as the Nigerian keeps attracting interest from Saudi Arabian clubs.

The likes of Arsenal and Chelsea have been heavily linked with the Super Eagles forward, but the Italian journalist believes he may not remain in Europe.

De Maggio elaborated that Osimhen preferred to go to England, but his €130 million release clause could be a problem for the Gunners.
