Andre Onana will end his first season with Manchester United with a silverware after their FA Cup triumph over rivals Manchester City at Wembley.

First-half goals from youngsters Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo were enough despite a late rally from the Premier League champions.

Jeremy Doku pulled one back for Manchester City with three minutes remaining but the Red Devils did enough to be crowned FA Cup winners.

"This one is for you REDS. We felt your energy to take the FA Cup to where it belongs. Manchester United," he wrote on X after the game.

Onana, who joined the English giants last summer from Inter Milan, played a key role in the club's success this season with his masterful performance in the semi-final against Coventry, as reported by the New York Times.

The goalkeeper alongside Amad Diallo and Sofyan Amrabat are the African players in the United squad to win the 2023/24 FA Cup.

The victory sees Manchester United qualify for Europe after a torrid campaign in the English Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

Onana warns Man City ahead of FA Cup final

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana switched his attention to the FA Cup final against Manchester City on Saturday, May 25.

The Cameroonian shot-stopper enjoyed a tough campaign in his first season in England but is hoping to wrap up the season with a trophy.

The former Ajax goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in the final game of the EPL season as Man United defeated Brighton and Hove Albion.

Onana backs Rashford to shine against City

Sports Brief also reported that Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana backed striker Marcus Rashford to make the difference in the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

The Red Devils renew their rivalry with their neighbours on Saturday, May 25, at Wembley, with hopes of avenging the defeat suffered to the champions in the repeat of last season's FA Cup final.

Rashford, who was United's best player last season, has struggled to replicate the same form, which has seen him lose his position in the English team for Euro 2024.
