Cristiano Ronaldo had a moment to forget in Al-Nassr's Saudi Pro League game against Al Riyadh on Thursday, May 23.

The 39-year-old Portuguese phenom, who is just two goals away from setting the league's all-time record for most goals in a single season, missed a golden opportunity against their local rivals.

According to Sportskeeda, Ronaldo had been in exceptional form all season but went goalless in Al-Nassr's previous league match against Al-Hilal and was eager to add to his 33-goal tally.

However, he surprisingly failed to convert several chances, something that has rarely been an issue for the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus ace, GOAL reports.

In one notable instance, Cristiano received a perfectly timed, defence-splitting pass from Marcelo Brozovic and drove towards the goal with only the goalkeeper to beat.

To the shock of many, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner shot off target when he confronted Al Riyadh's goalkeeper, Martin Campana.

Ronaldo storms away from teammates in anger

One notable moment during the game was Cristiano Ronaldo's visible dissatisfaction with the scoreline, which reached its peak at halftime, as reported by Sports Brief.

The Portuguese star stormed to the dressing room ahead of his teammates.

As the 39-year-old marched off, his teammates wearily walked behind, discussing the game among themselves as they headed down the touchline.

Mikel Obi apologises to Ronaldo

Sports Brief also reported that legendary Nigerian midfielder John Mikel Obi has apologised to Cristiano Ronaldo for a recent statement that circulated widely on social media platforms.

The former Chelsea midfielder was reportedly quoted as saying that Thierry Henry, Eden Hazard, and several other players were superior to Ronaldo in the Premier League.

The quote sparked intense backlash from online fans, as the former Super Eagles captain faced criticism for suggesting that the Portuguese veteran is not among the top 10 greatest players in the English top flight.
