Nigeria forward, Ademola Lookman is beaming with confidence ahead of the final of the Europa League against unbeaten German side, Bayer Leverkusen.

Lookman is one of the players to watch out for following his incredible run of form since the turn of the year, scoring important goals for both Nigeria and Atalanta.

His goals in the quarter-final and semi-finals of the Europa League proved crucial as the Italian side eye their first European laurel.

The Super Eagles star will also be facing two of his compatriots Nathan Tella and Victor Boniface, both of whom have been essential for Xabi Alonso's men.

The newly-crowned German champions are to taste defeat this season and are currently on a run of 51 games without a loss.

However, Lookman believes Atalanta has what it takes to stop the Germans.

"It's a big occasion for us as a club, as players, and as a team so yes, I am looking forward to that," he told the club's YouTube Channel.

"We are coming up against a top team, they play top football, and like we've shown this season, we play our football to the best of our ability and we will need to do the necessary," he added.

"I think this season, we have been very very strong in the league, the Coppa Italia, the Europa League, two finals. It's been a great season and like I said it is not over yet and we have to finish the job for our fans and we are looking forward to that."

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ademola Lookman became one of the frontrunners for CAF's 2024 African Player of the Year award after an outstanding run with both club and country this year.

The 26-year-old starred as Atalanta reached their second final of the year following victory over Olympique Marseille in the UEFA Europa League semi-final.
