Nottingham Forest have exercised a one-year extension on Ola Aina's contract, securing the talented full-back's services for another season.

Aina joined the Premier League side on a free transfer last summer and has made a significant impact, making 22 appearances.

Most importantly, the Nigerian has proven his adaptability and determination on both sides of the defence.

Aina's tenure at Forest has been marked by notable achievements, including his first goal for the club in a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa in November last year.

His prowess on the field has been mirrored in his international endeavours. He played a crucial role in Nigeria's journey to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final and earned a spot in the Team of the Tournament.

Reflecting on his contract extension, Aina expressed his satisfaction and enthusiasm for the future.

"I've been really happy with my time spent here at Forest, and the fans have been great. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the future holds," he said, as quoted on the club's official website.

Before joining Nottingham Forest, Aina honed his skills at Torino in Serie A, where he amassed 113 appearances across all competitions. His experience and versatility have made him a valuable asset.

Ola Aina's international task

On the international front, he faces a challenging task as part of the Super Eagles squad striving to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

They had a rocky start in their qualifying campaign, securing only two points from their first two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Currently sitting third in Group C, Nigeria trails behind Rwanda and South Africa, both of which have four points.

According to BSN Sports, Aina remains optimistic about the Super Eagles' prospects. The team will play against South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on June 7, followed by an away game against Benin in Ivory Coast.

Aina ignites debate with lightning speed vs Manchester City

Sports Brief reported that Ola Aina covered vast ground and was a creative outlet for his team against Manchester City in a Premier League clash.

Forest fans may have lamented their flurry of missed chances, but it wasn't an entirely gloomy defeat for those in attendance.

While many were kept on the edge of their seats by Chris Woods' string of glaring misses, others took a moment to commend Aina's performance.
