All Nigeria Soccer reported that the former English Premier League champions have identified Burkina Faso’s Mohamed Konate as a potential signing.

With Leicester earning promotion back to the Premier League, the side are eager to bolster their squad.

Who is Mohamed Konate?

The 26-year-old is a centre-forward who currently plays for Akhmat Grozny in the Premier Liga in Russia.

The Burkina Faso international has made 34 appearances for the Russian side this season and has scored 13 goals already.

He also impressed during the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast, where he led the line for Burkina Faso. He netted one goal at AFCON, scoring against Algeria.

Konate's contract with the side expires at the end of the season, and he will officially become a free agent.

What’s next for Iheanacho?

The attacker will also be a free agent at the end of the season and is expected to leave the English side.

Transfermarkt noted that he has made 232 appearances for the Foxes in seven seasons, scoring 61 goals and providing 31 assists.

He started the current season well but has fallen out of favour since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Iheanacho has only played 29 minutes since the start of April, often being left out of the matchday squad or being an unused substitute.

Iheanacho sparks transfer speculation

Sports Brief previously reported how Leicester City’s Iheanacho sparked speculation with his social media activity.

The Nigerian forward, who is rumoured to be leaving the side at the end of the season, liked a post about Aston Villa.

Iheanacho liked a post celebrating Ollie Watkins as the player of the season, fuelling speculation about his next club.
