Ngcobo's parents are Sicelo Sami and Thembelihle Audrey Ngcobo. His mother, Thembelihle, is a primary school teacher in Bulwer, in the Midlands region. His father, Sicelo Sami, also played soccer but not professionally.

Nkosingiphile developed a passion for soccer as a young boy. According to his mother, Mshini, he often played football outside until late at night. She told Kaizer Chiefs' website.

"He was always playing with a soccer ball, usually somewhere in the streets, even at night and sometimes in the house as well. And yes, Mshini would sometimes break a window in the house when miss-kicking the ball."

Nkosingiphile's family supported him on his way. They were the first fans of his growth in football, despite their insisting he also study.
