Arsenal stage fireworks to disrupt Man City

In an effort to hinder City's focus, fireworks were set off outside the hotel where the defending champions were scheduled to stay.

The Ashburton Army, a group of Arsenal supporters, orchestrated the display at 2 am.

However, it's worth noting that Man City hadn't arrived in London yet; they were still in Manchester at the time.

According to GOAL, contrary to initial plans, the Citizens opted to spend the night in Manchester and travel to London on Tuesday morning instead, foiling the fans' fireworks disturbance.

As a result, the fireworks display put on by Arsenal followers only served to annoy innocent visitors to the Marriott Hotel.

Man City star breaks silence on fireworks

While the supposed Arsenal faithful's attempt did not go according to plan, it did not go unnoticed, as Man City defender Kyle Walker opened up about the infamous plan after his side beat Spurs.

“Arsenal fans tried to set fireworks off the night before, but they've missed us!” the right-back told Sky Sports, as cited by Fabrizio Romano.

How did Man City's clash with Spurs unfold?

In a tense evening in North London, Arsenal were reliant on their local rivals to assist them, and Tottenham provided City with a moment of anxiety.

Nonetheless, it was a case of much ado about nothing, as two second-half goals from Erling Haaland propelled the Sky Blues closer to an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title.

Substitute goalkeeper Stefan Ortega also played a key role in City's success at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it was their first win in as many games played at the venue.

Ortega was thrust into action and made three crucial saves, notably denying Son Heung-min a one-on-one situation after coming on for Ederson.

What's next for Man City after Tottenham win?

The triumph propelled City two points ahead of Arsenal at the summit of the table as the season approached its final day.

Pep Guardiola's side will host West Ham at the Etihad on Sunday, while Arsenal will face Everton at home.

Man City ready to write EPL history

Sports Brief also reported that Manchester City midfielder, Rodri, has expressed his side's readiness to etch their names in history once again by aiming to become the first team to secure four consecutive English top-flight titles.

However, the Spanish midfielder cautioned against a recurrence of the dramatic final-day scenario from two years ago.

In that instance, City had to stage a late comeback from being 2-0 down against Aston Villa to secure a 3-2 win, denying Liverpool the title in the process.
