Erik ten Hag has responded to calls by a section of Manchester United fans to have him sacked following the club's humiliating defeat against Crystal Palace.

The Dutchman is facing a mountainous task to keep his job at Old Trafford following the club's struggles this season.

United have managed just 16 wins in 35 Premier League games so far this term, with their disastrous form denying them a Champions League spot.

The Manchester club are now facing the prospect of missing out on European football for next season after their 4-0 embarrassing defeat against Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Two goals from Michael Olise and a goal each from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell condemned United to a comprehensive loss at Selhurst Park.

The result sparked calls from a section of United fans to have ten Hag sacked at the end of the season.

Ten Hag responds to sack calls by fans

The former Ajax boss has now responded to the calls, with the 54-year-old adamant of keeping his job.

Metro UK reports that ten Hag, while speaking after the match, expressed confidence that he is still the right man for the job at Old Trafford.

"I will keep fighting. I prepared the team in the best way I could do. It was not good enough, I have to take responsibility for that, but I will find energy and prepare them for Sunday’s game," he said.
"Absolutely, I am the right manager to turn things around," he added in a separate statement.

Despite his underwhelming tenure at Old Trafford this season, ten Hag is still a wanted man.

According to reports, the tactician may not be jobless for long in the event United get rid of him, with Ajax among the clubs said to be monitoring his situation.

Per SPORTbible, Bayern Munich are also keen on recruiting him to replace Thomas Tuchel, who will depart at the end of the season.

Man United set unwanted records

In related news, Sports Brief also reported on Man United setting two unwanted records against Crystal Palace.

The Red Devils have been underwhelming this term under ten Hag.
