Darwin Nunez's time with Liverpool may soon be coming to an end.

Reds stumble down the stretch

It has been a rough time for Liverpool and their fans, who saw their quadruple bid disintegrate in the closing stages of the 2023-24 season.

The Reds crashed out of the Europa League and the FA Cup in the quarter-final stage following their Carabao Cup final win over Chelsea.

Their Premier League title hopes then took a huge hit after they dropped points against Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Everton, and West Ham United in a brutal five-game stretch.

What caused Nunez's outrage?

Some fans have placed the blame on Nunez for Liverpool's late collapse this season.

Even though he has found the back of the net 18 times in all competitions for the Reds this campaign, pundits and fans have continued to blast him for his lack of consistency in front of goal.

He has scored just one goal in his last 11 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, per TransferMarkt.

He was relegated to the bench in Liverpool’s last two Premier League games after missing an excellent chance in his last start for the Reds against Everton.

Jamie Carragher blasted Nunez's performance against the Toffees during his analysis, saying he has doubts over the Uruguayan's long-term suitability for the Reds, per Metro.

Fans were quick to show their support for Nunez, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona recently.

Battle for European places heats up

Sports Brief recently reported on the Premier League race for Europe.

Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool have guaranteed themselves a place in the Champions League next season.

Aston Villa are close to sealing the fourth and final Champions League spot as Spurs continue their downward spiral.
