Marco Reus was almost brought to tears after scoring for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Saturday, May 4.
On Friday, the midfielder announced he would leave his boyhood club after 12 years of service, as the two parties mutually agreed not to extend his contract.
A day later, the 34-year-old was on target for his side in a 4-1 win over Augsburg, per the Bundesliga website.
Shortly after scoring his side’s fourth goal, an emotional Reus paid tribute to fans at the Signa Iduna Park before putting his hands on his face.

Sancho stays for Reus’ lap of honour
After the game, Reus was joined by his family as he performed a lap of honour to show appreciation to the stadium's fans.
Hawk-eyed fans noticed that on-loan winger Jadon Sancho, also stayed behind in a subtle show of support towards Reus.
The two have had a solid relationship since Sancho first joined Dortmund in 2017.
In January, after assisting Reus against Darmstadt, Sancho took to social media to share a photo alongside the Dortmund legend with the caption, “Some things never change.”

Reus has been one of the most loyal servants at the Westfalenstadion.
In 12 years at the club, the winger has made 424 appearances, scoring 169 goals, including his strike on Saturday, according to Transfermarkt.
Despite not enjoying too much success in terms of silverware at the club, the midfielder has won the DFB Cup twice with Dortmund.
