Orlando Pirates are on a roll.

Head coach, Jose Riveiro, has attributed their scorching form to a combination of factors, including converting scoring chances and the team's growing confidence.

Ahead of their upcoming Nedbank Cup semifinal clash against Chippa United, on May 4, the Buccaneers are basking in the glow of five consecutive victories.

During this run, they have also an impressive 18 goals while conceding only three across league and cup competitions.

Riveiro highlighted the importance of the team's process, noting the contributions of both regular starters and squad players in maintaining their momentum. He stressed the significance of turning performances into tangible results, which in turn bolsters the team's belief and allows them to exceed expectations on the field.

“One of the key things is we are converting our performances into goals and results are coming, and when the results are coming everybody feels much more confident and you can even perform past your average. The team is in a moment where it feels confident," he said, as quoted by Times Live.

Despite facing various challenges throughout the season, including mounting criticism, Pirates have managed to assert their dominance and dictate the course of matches.

Their opponents, Chippa United, have undergone a resurgence under co-coaches Kwanele Kopo and Thabo September. They effectively avoided relegation and present a formidable opponent for the Sea Robbers in the semifinal.

Riveiro acknowledged the scrutiny surrounding their recent performances but maintained a pragmatic stance. He recognized the importance of results while remaining focused on the team's long-term objectives.

“If there are critics about our results, we’ll accept it. When it’s time to be criticised for our performances, we’ll accept it, and it’s normal," he told iDiski Times.

Riveiro discusses Tshegofatso Mabasa's importance

Sports Brief reported that Riveiro applauded Tshegofatso Mabasa's contributions to the team, highlighting the vital role he plays in the system and describing him as an important piece in the structure.

Mabasa has been thriving of late in a Pirates shirt.

He was considered surplus to requirements at the club a few seasons ago and was loaned out several times.
