Manchester United star, Antony, is being criticised for making a disrespectful gesture towards Coventry City players following the FA Cup semi-final match.

United went 3-0 up, but the Championship side fought back and equalised 3-3 to force the game into extra time. They almost won it but saw a goal disallowed.

The Premier League side won it on penalties after two Coventry players missed their spot kicks despite makeshift centre-back, Casemiro, missing United's first attempt.

Antony disrespects Coventry players

As spotted in footage making rounds on social media, Brazilian attacker, Antony, was seen cupping his ears in front of Coventry players after Rasmus Hojlund scored the decisive spot kick.

In the same scene, Harry Maguire showed his class and was seen in the midst of the Sky Blues players consoling and congratulating them for their journey in the FA Cup.

United boss, Erik ten Hag, was quizzed on the incident during his post-match conference and provided a short answer before changing the topic.

“I haven’t seen that, so I can’t comment on that, but I know we have a big respect for Coventry City and what they did,” he said via Metro UK.
“We have to see our performance which was very good up until 70 minutes. There was a drop-off, but we showed determination and resilience to be in the final, and that’s a big achievement,” he added.

There are growing calls for both the player and manager to leave the club at the end of the season after yesterday's game, with minority owner and football affairs controller, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, in attendance.

Why Onana wasn't red carded

Sports Brief has also explained why Andre Onana was not red-carded despite picking up two yellow cards during Manchester United's 4-2 penalty victory over Coventry City.

Similar to Emiliano Martinez's incident in Lille's match against Aston Villa in the Europa Conference League, the shot-stopper saw yellow during regulation time and the shootout.
