Premier League Top Scorers

1. Erling Haaland (Manchester City, 21 goals)

Haaland made an immediate impact in his return to the line-up, scoring a goal off the bench in Manchester City's 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

He delivered the goods after coming on as a substitute after the hour mark, sealing the win with a fine strike in the 71st minute.

It was an important goal for City, who moved within one point of Arsenal for the league lead.

The goal puts Haaland's bid to win back-to-back Premier League Golden Boot titles back on track.

2. Cole Palmer (Chelsea, 20 goals)

Palmer failed to keep pace with Haaland in the Premier League Golden Boot race as the Blues were shut down by Aston Villa in their match over the weekend.

He dropped to second place in the scoring charts, with the English star stuck at 20 goals.

He missed Chelsea's last league match due to illness, and he still looked out of sorts in the game against Villa.

The good news for Palmer is that the Blues' next league game will be at Stamford Bridge. He has been on fire at home of late, scoring seven goals in his last two league outings there.

3. Alexander Isak (Newcastle United, 19 goals)

There's no hotter player in the Premier League right now than Isak. He moved up to third place in the Golden Boot race after scoring a brace in Newcastle United's 5-1 win over Sheffield United.

He now holds the record for the most goals scored by a Swedish player in a single Premier League season, finding the back of the net 19 times in the 2023-24 campaign.

3. Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa, 19 goals)

Watkins lost ground in the Premier League Golden Boot race, failing to find the back of the net in Aston Villa's 2-2 draw with Chelsea.

The 28-year-old remained in third place with 19 goals, with his last strike coming against Arsenal two weeks ago.

5. Dominic Solanke (Bournemouth, 18 goals)

Solanke failed to score in the game against Brighton on Matchday 35 as he lost ground in the Golden Boot race.

The Bournemouth star dropped to fifth place with 18 goals, with his last strike coming against Aston Villa a week ago, per TransferMarkt.

City maintain title push with Forest win

Sports Brief recently reported on Manchester City keeping pressure on Arsenal in the title race.

The Citizens defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 on Sunday to move within a point of the Gunners.

Josko Gvardiol and Haaland scored the goals for the defending champions to narrow the gap.
