Andre Onana produced a howler at Old Trafford as Manchester United went behind against Sheffield United in the worst way possible on Wednesday, April 24.

The Red Devils needed a lift after barely scraping through to the FA Cup final via a penalty shootout victory against Coventry City just three days earlier.

Onana was the hero of the day in the clash with the Championship side, saving two crucial penalties as United survived a scare to win the shootout 4-2.

But on Wednesday, he went from a hero to a villain again, at least in the eyes of Man United fans, thanks to his howler against bottom-placed Sheffield United.

With 10 minutes remaining in the first half, the Cameroon international passed the ball when he had the chance to clear and was made to pay as Jayden Bogle intercepted, drove forward, and scored a simple goal.

Videos of the incident that are circulating online show Onana clearly trying to find Diogo Dalot with his pass, with the Sheffield star reading it perfectly and maximising on the chance.

Fortunately for United, that goal was the boost they needed as Harry Maguire equalised just before half-time by nodding home a low cross from Alejandro Garnacho.

United come from behind to win

In a highly-engaging game, Sheffield United took another surprise lead through Ben Brereton Diaz just five minutes after the break, but United equalised through their captain Bruno Fernandes, who slotted in from the penalty spot after Harry Maguire was brought down in the box.

Fernandes then led by example, giving his side the lead in brilliant fashion with a powerful left-footed strike from outside the box.

The Portuguese midfielder then turned provider, setting up Rasmus Hojlund, who scored his first goal in seven games according to BBC.

United survived a scare to secure a 4-2 victory as Erik ten Hag boosted his faint hopes of European football next season.

Jurgen Klopp apologises to Liverpool fans

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on Jurgen Klopp’s reaction to Liverpool’s defeat in the Merseyside derby.

The Reds suffered a 2-0 defeat on Wednesday, April 24 in what was a major blow to their title ambitions this season.

The Reds trail leaders Arsenal by three points with four matches remaining in their Premier League schedule.
