Nicolas Jackson’s transfer to Chelsea has not yielded the expected returns for both the player and the London club as the Senegalese forward continues to struggle since his summer switch.
The 22-year-old forward again made the headlines for the wrong reasons as Mauricio Pochettino’s men were walloped in the London derby 5-0 by arch-rivals Arsenal on Tuesday, April 23.
According to The Standard, Jackson could have been shown a straight red card as early as the ninth minute after his reckless tackle on Gunners defender Takehiro Tomiyasu but was overlooked by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
The Senegalese forward also missed a glaring chance to draw Chelsea level in the first half with the scores still at 1-0 after placing his shot to the side netting despite being clear on David Raya’s goal.

Following Jackson’s struggles since his arrival at Stamford Bridge this summer, Chelsea could be forced to make a drastic decision on the future of the forward ahead of next season.
How has Jackson performed for Chelsea
Meanwhile, Jackson has scored 13 goals in 38 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions since he arrived from Villareal in the summer, Transfer Markt reports.
The Senegalese forward has 10 Premier League goals, two in the FA Cup and one in the Carabao Cup, and has also created five assists for the Blues in his first season with the club.
Jackson has however remained in the shadow of English forward Cole Palmer at Chelsea with the 20-year-old former Manchester City star becoming the Blues' most-trusted attacker this campaign.

FootballChelsea’s plan for Nicolas Jackson unveiled
Jackson could be about to lose his spot in the Chelsea team, but it is unlikely that the former Villarreal star will depart Stamford Bridge in the next transfer window, Chelsea Chronicle reports.
The London club are desperate to sign a marquee forward next season and are already pursuing a deal to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen when the transfer window opens.
The Nigerian forward will be expected to lead Chelsea’s attack with Palmer acting as his deputy while there will be no place for Jackson in the attacking line-up for the Blues.
Jackson avoids red in Arsenal defeat

Fans were outraged at the Emirates stadium after the struggling Blues forward was left unpunished by match officials after a reckless challenge on Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.
