Stanley Nwabali has been linked with a move away from his club, Chippa United, at the end of the season.

The Nigerian goalkeeper stole the show at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, helping the Super Eagles reach the final for the first time since 2013.

His performances in Ivory Coast have heightened speculation about his future.

Nwabali is also enjoying a great season in South Africa with Chippa United. He has kept 10 clean sheets in 21 matches this season. Only Mameldosi Sundowns star, Ronwen Williams (12), has kept more, per Transfermarkt.

According to Soccer Laduma, Belgian club, Union Saint-Gilloise, is reportedly looking for a goalkeeper to replace Maxime Wensenns, who could leave at the end of the season.

Nwabali is reportedly seen as the best option to replace Wensenns. However, no offer has been made for the transfer.

Nwabali is just getting to his prime and is already Nigeria's No. 1 goalkeeper. A move to Europe is likely in the summer.

The goalie recently told Far Post he hasn't received any offer.

“You see, to be honest, I’ve never seen anything on my table ever since AFCON,” he said.
“So I don’t know if there’s something on the table maybe waiting for towards summer or transfer window. You know most clubs always do this. When they show interest, you’re opening the way to some other clubs."

Chippa United's statement on Nwabali

Sports Brief earlier reported on Chippa United clearing their air on Nwabali's future.

The club's boss, Siviwe Mpengesi, has admitted that Nwabali needs to move to a bigger club and has held talks with several clubs abroad. Mpengesi says they will let Nwabali leave if a reasonable offer is presented to them.

Chippa give Nwabali hero's welcome

Sports Brief also reported on Chippa United giving Nwabali a hero's welcome when he returned to the club after the 2023 AFCON.

The club posted photos on Instagram showing Nwabali sharing a heartwarming moment with fans while wearing his medal.
