Victor Boniface and Victor Osimhen are arguably Nigeria's best players at the moment.

Boniface has played a massive role in Bayer Leverkusen's Bundesliga title win this season, while Osimhen made history with Napoli last season.

Boniface is having a breakout season in a top European league, while his compatriot has struggled to replicate last season's form.

The Leverkusen striker missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to injury, which kept him out for around four months. His impact at the German club cannot be understated.

Nigeria reached the final, and he would have probably helped the Super Eagles lift the title. Osimhen scored once in Ivory Coast, but numbers can't do justice to his contributions in Nigeria's unexpected run to the final. How have both players fared this season at club level?

Victor Boniface 2023/24

In Germany, Boniface has been a vital piece in Xabi Alonso's unstoppable machine.

In 29 matches in all competitions this season, the 23-year-old striker has registered 18 goals and 10 assists.

11 of his goals have come in 19 Bundesliga matches.

The former Union Saint-Gilloise star has missed 11 Bundesliga matches and returned earlier this month to help his team secure their first-ever title.

"I have won a league title before," Boniface said, after their title triumph on Sunday. "But this is different. This is bigger," via BBC.

Xabi Alonso's side will face AS Roma in a two-legged semi-final tie in the Europa League, aiming to reach the final and compete for a European title.

They will then face Kaiserslautern on May 25 in the German Cup final, looking to seal a treble.

Victor Osimhen's 2023/24 season

Osimhen was, without a doubt, Africa's best player last season. His performances in the Serie A will go down in history.

The 25-year-old took his career to new heights with eye-catching displays under Luciano Spalletti. He scored goals for fun at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

The former Lille striker became the first African to win the converted Serie A Golden Boot. He did so with 26 goals, which helped Napoli clinch their first-ever league title in 33 years.

This season, goals have been hard to come by. His team is struggling, and their league title defence crumbled early in the season.

Napoli have had three coaches this season. These changes have seen rumours link him with an exit from the club.

PSG, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Real Madrid have been mentioned as possible destinations for the Nigerian superstar.

Osimhen has registered 15 goals in 28 matches this season, a sharp decline from last season's 31 in all competitions. His Golden Boot defence is definitely over.
