Ball boys can help turn the tide of a game for their team, but they can also get themselves in trouble with opposition players.
That was the case for a little ball boy during Richards Bay’s game against Kaizer Chiefs.
With the KwaZulu-Natal side leading 1-0 and time running out, Chiefs were desperate to keep the game flowing and grab an equaliser.
Thanks to the youngster, that task was made more difficult as he refused to give the Amakhosi the ball during one particular encounter.

Bvuma threatens to hit youngster
After the Natal Rich Boys missed a chance to make it 2-0, Chiefs keeper Bruce Bvuma rushed to get the ball, he had to chase the ball boy for it.
The youngster made sure he kept the opposition from taking a quick goal kick, but Chiefs’ keeper and fans weren’t happy. Bvuma was spotted threatening to slap the youngster, while Chiefs’ supporters also voiced their displeasure with his antics.
It paid off for the home team, as Richards Bay won the game 1-0.
Jose Mourinho thanks ball boy
The local lad isn’t the first ball boy to make headlines for his antics.
In 2019, a Tottenham Hotspur youngster helped his side by getting them the ball quickly to effect a speedy throw-in. The action resulted in a goal and Jose Mourinho went up to the youngster to high-five him, Sky Sports noted.

The Swansea City youngster was kicked by Eden Hazard when the Chelsea star tried to get the ball of him in 2013, Marca reported.
Johnson disappointed with Chiefs' performance
Sports Brief earlier reported how Chiefs' interim coach Cavin Johnson was disappointed by the side's poor finishing skills in their loss to Richards Bay.
The KZN side had one shot on target, but used it to score the only goal of the game and hand Chiefs their 10th defeat of the season.
Johnson urged his side to pull up their socks after the game as they face SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns next.
