Kaizer Chiefs' poor run of form this season continues.

The Soweto giants have failed to score a goal since March when they took on Orlando Pirates, but hoped to bounce back against a struggling Richards Bay outfit in the DStv Premiership.

Richards Bay were second from the bottom of the table, and many fancied Chiefs to run through them. Unfortunately for Amakhosi fans, they were beaten by the Natal Rich Boys, a loss which leaves them in 10th place, GOAL noted.

Chiefs had numerous chances in the game but failed to take any, while Richards Bay scored with their only shot on target.

Simphiwe Mcineka scored the lone goal from a corner in the second half, and his team earned a valuable win.

Johnson not impressed with Chiefs’ performance

After the game, Chiefs’ interim coach Cavin Johnson commented on the performance, saying his side missed so many chances.

“They only had one shot on target from a corner, and they scored. We have to be able to put the ball in the back of the net, he said.
“We all have to take responsibility. Not just the players. We have to pull up our socks and go again.”

Chiefs will next take on SuperSport United before turning their attention to Mamelodi Sundowns. Looking ahead to the fixtures, he added that his side would have to do better.

“We have to raise our game more than today. SuperSport and Sundowns are both good teams with two good coaches.”

Du Preez admits to being wasteful

Chiefs coach Johnson isn’t the only one who believes that his side needs to improve in front of goal.

Sports Brief reported how Ashley du Preez admitted that he was wasteful with his scoring chances.

The striker was looking forward to fixing things when Chiefs took on a struggling Richards Bay outfit.
