  • Johnson has stated that his side had the chance to score plenty of goals during the game

Despite their 2-0 loss to Chippa United in a DStv clash on Saturday, April 6, Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson says his side could have scored five or six goals.

Amakhosi continue to struggle this season as they lose back-to-back league games - this time to Chippa United at the Buffalo City Stadium.

Bienvenu Eva Nga and Sinoxolo Kwayiba found the back of the net for the hosts in the first half to win the encounter.

The loss leaves Chiefs in ninth position with 30 points from 23 matches so far in the South African topflight.

Cavin Johnson admitted that it was a poor performance from their mid-week defeat to Stellenbosch. He, however, stated his side should have scored lots of goals against the Stellies who maintain their second position on the log.

He told SuperSport TV, as per The South African:

“As you said, one step forward, two steps backwards. I thought the first 20 minutes of the game belonged to us, we entered their area where we were supposed to score goals, probably 5-6 times.
“Then we give away two goals, the first goal was very soft from an out-ball throw, the second goal we don’t put pressure on the ball and they also get into the box and they score two goals.”

Kaizer Chiefs to part ways with Khune, others

Sports Brief earlier reported that Kaizer Chiefs are set to experience a major shake-up as seven players, including Itumeleng Khune, are expected to leave as soon as their respective contracts with the club lapse this summer.

Four Premier Soccer League players are already on the radar Amakhosi as begin to make desperate moves to bolster their squad ahead of next season.

Chiefs made ten signings this season, but the management, technical crew and supporters are not convinced.
