The ex-Under 17 international has yet to make his senior debut. The talented defender has been called up four times for Premier League games and was an unused substitute against Nottingham Forest in the fifth round.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, his opportunity to join the senior squad arose due to injuries to several key players, including Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Jonny Evans, Tyrrell Malacia, and Luke Shaw.

As reported by All Nigeria Soccer, Ogunneye is aiming to become the first player of Nigerian descent to play for Manchester United's first team since Shola Shoretire in May 2022.

Louis Jackson has also been promoted, and teenagers Harry Amass and Ethan Wheatley are set to be named in the 20-man matchday squad. None of the academy players have made their debuts for the first team.
