Manchester United’s recent appointment of Jason Wilcox as the club’s new technical director will come as good news for winger Jadon Sancho.

The club released a statement confirming Wilcox’ appointment, with Southampton receiving a compensation payment from the Red Devils.

"Jason Wilcox has joined Manchester United as Technical Director with immediate effect,” the statement read.
"He will work with all technical areas of the football department to achieve the highest standards of performance."

The 53-year-old former Blackburn United player has had previous roles at technical director at Southampton and academy director at Manchester City, according to Sky Sports.

United are still on the hunt for a Sporting director, who Wilcox will report to, and Newcastle's Dan Ashworth stands a high chance of taking the job.

What Wilcox’s appointment means for Sancho

One player who will be happy with Wilcox coming to Old Trafford is Jadon Sancho.

Sancho, 23, could be offered a career lifeline by the new technical director, who has previously worked with him at Manchester City.

Wilcox is believed to be a huge fan of the winger.

Sancho’s fallout with Ten Hag

Jadon Sancho fell out with Erik ten Hag early on in the 2023/24 season and was effectively frozen out of the squad.

He eventually found a way out of the club, albeit temporarily, securing a loan move to his former club Borussia Dortmund.

At Dortmund, the Man City academy graduate seems to have regained his form and is a crucial member of Edin Terzic’s squad. According to Transfermarkt, Sancho has two goals and two assists in 14 appearances.

He most recently played a key role as Dortmund knocked Atletico Madrid out of the Champions League quarter-finals.

Sports Brief also reported don Jadon Sancho’s highlights against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter final.

Despite not getting on the scoresheet, the on-loan star was a consistent threat and showed great confidence on the ball down the flank.

Notably, he played a crucial role in Dortmund’s second goal, scored by Maatsen.
