UEFA have confirmed the punishment for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez after he escaped a red card vs Lille despite getting two bookings.
The Argentine shot-stopper was part of the Villa side that battled the French side for a 2-2 aggregate draw during their Europa Conference League clash on Thursday night at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
The match had to be decided via a penalty shootout despite Lille winning 2-1 during regular time and after extra time.
However, the scoreline could only draw them level on aggregate with the Premier League outfit, meaning the winner of the tie had to be decided via penalties.

The shot-stopper had been yellow-carded during the normal time before he picked up another booking during the shootout.
It was later confirmed that the Argentina international was allowed to stay on due to rules surrounding yellow cards.
Apparently, the laws of the game state that yellow cards are reset at the start of a penalty shootout.
However, UEFA has since confirmed that Martinez will receive punishment for the two bookings.
Sports journalist Tom Collomosse disclosed on X that the governing body has resolved to have Martinez suspended in the first leg of Villa's tie against Greek side Olympiacos.
“UEFA spokesman: ‘Martinez suspended for the first leg of the semi-final against Olympiacos.’ Basis is the three bookings he received across the tie against Lille," he tweeted.
