Guinea forward, Serhou Guirassy, has bagged his second Bundesliga Player of the Month award following an impressive run in March.

The Stuttgart forward netted five times in four matches to beat Bayern Munich duo Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala as well as RB Leipzig's Xavi Simons and David Raum, and Alejandro Grimaldo of Bayer Leverkusen to the award.

Guirassy expressed delight after scooping the award for the second time, thanking fans of the Bundesliga for voting for him.

“I am very happy that I won the vote and therefore the trophy again. Many thanks to everyone who voted for me,” he said, as quoted by Stuttgart's official website.

Having missed most of January due to the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the French-born Guinean rediscovered his scoring form in March as he went on to set a new record at Stuttgart, becoming the first player to score 25 Bundesliga goals in a season for the club.

Former Germany striker, Mario Gomez had held the record for most goals at Stuttgart with 24 strikes in the 2007/08 season.

"Of course, I am proud of this number. Like you saw in Dortmund, I did a Mario Gomez celebration and that was a tribute for him," he told Sporty TV as he paid tribute to Gomez.
"I overtook him. Of course, I am proud. Everybody knows how good Mario Gomez is. I am proud and happy because we also won the game," he added.

Guirassy first won the Player of the Month award in September 2023.

Guirassy breaks Mario Gomez's record

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Guinea forward, Serhou Guirassy became the first player to score 25 goals in a single Bundesliga season for VfB Stuttgart.

The lanky forward broke Mario Gomez's record, which stood for 15 years after scoring in the 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt last Saturday.

His goal-scoring exploits has seen Stuttgart inch close to a UEFA Champions League spot for next season.
