The UEFA Champions League (UCL) quarter-finals delivered on their promise with a series of thrilling encounters over the four match days.

However, one particular match stood out as the highlight of the round: the clash between two European giants, Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Following an exhilarating three-all draw at the Santiago Bernabeu, both teams met again at the Etihad for the second leg. The match ended with a tense penalty shootout, ultimately won by Real Madrid after 120 minutes of intense, resilient play.

Nonetheless, following the conclusion of the pulsating fixture, a former Nigerian midfielder has singled out a Manchester midfielder for praise.

Ex-Super Eagles midfielder hails Man City star

In the aftermath of the fixture, former captain of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh, took to social media to salute the incredible display of midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

The former Juventus midfielder, posting on social media, wrote:

"[Kevin] De Bruyne!!! What a player."

The praise for the midfielder appears to be linked with his goal, which was able to breach Real Madrid's resolute defensive structure.

However, despite the Belgian midfielder’s best efforts, Los Blancos would do enough on the night to wear Manchester City out and clinch a penalty shootout win against them. The win secures Real Madrid’s spot in the semi-final, where they face Bayern Munich in the first leg of the showpiece.

Oliseh congratulates Boniface

In another report, Sports Brief stated that former Nigerian international, Oliseh, has praised Victor Boniface following his Bundesliga triumph with Bayer Leverkusen.

The iconic midfielder labelled the forward as extraordinary after leading his side to title glory.

The Nigerian striker played a pivotal role in handing Die Werkself their first German League crown in their 120-year history. The 23-year-old was involved in 11 goals and eight assists in 18 appearances. The former Royale Union Saint-Gilloise forward is also spearheading the team’s charge to what could be an unprecedented treble this season.
