Real Madrid ace Luka Modric showed age is just a number as he inadvertently made a mockery out of Julian Alvarez during Real Madrid’s clash against Manchester City.

Despite being in the twilight days of his career, the Croatian is showing no signs of slowing down in his career.

He remains a crucial part of Carlo Ancelotti’s side this season, featuring of 37 times according to Transfermarkt.

Eight of those appearances have come in the Champions League as he made his latest appearance against the Cityzens in the 78th minute on Wednesday, replacing Toni Kroos.

At the time the tie was deadlocked at 1-1, as both teams tried to get an edge over the other.

Modric embarrasses Julian Alvarez

During the closing stages of the clash, Modric exhibited his class with a sublime skill that took down Man City’s Alvarez, quite literally.

After receiving the ball near the touchline, the former Tottenham man expertly protected the ball from Man City players, before turning to launch an attack.

Alvarez tried to press the midfielder but was left hitting the deck after his leg got caught in Modric’s as the Croatian was dribbling away.

That move predictably ignited hilarious reactions from fans, who joked Alvarez had been ‘sent back to Argentina’.

Modric misses penalty

With the two teams unable to get a winner after 120 minutes, the game boiled down to a penalty shootout.

Modric missed his side’s first penalty, which was expertly saved by Ederson, who dived low to keep the ball out.

Obviously gutted by the miss, the veteran kicked the ball to the crowd in apparent frustration, something that fans have theorised led to Bernardo Silva also missing his penalty.

Meanwhile, reports from Football Espana suggest Modric is set to leave Real Madrid this summer after 12 years with the club.

Thomas Tuchel hits back at critics

Sports Brief also reported on Thomas Tuchel’s savage clap back at critics after Bayern’s win over Arsenal.

The German is set to depart Bayern at the end of the season, but he has the chance of ending the campaign on a high after advancing to the Champions League semis.

He had a brutal response to journalists when asked whether the win over the Gunners gratified him.
