His professional debut showcased his potential and earned him a place in the hearts of the club's supporters.

The new contract will keep Vilakazi at the club until June 2028, which has delighted fans and management alike.

Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Junior, expressed excitement about the youngster's talent and stressed the importance of hard work in any future success.

"We are very excited to be able to conclude this contract extension. Mfundo is an exceptional talent and we are looking forward to seeing him showcase his God-given technical ability with the senior team for many years to come. It’s now all about the hard work for the young man and we know he will do his best," he said, as quoted by iDiski Times.

Despite the team's defeat in the Nedbank Cup Last 32, the youngster's performance on the field showed glimpses of his potential.

"I’m happy and excited to have a contract with a big club like Chiefs," Vilakazi said, as reported by Goal.

Johnson also lauded the teenager after his debut, acknowledging his skills and hinting at even more extraordinary achievements with the proper support and positioning.

Chiefs make new decision concerning Cavin Johnson

Sports Brief also reported on Chiefs latest decision on Cavin Johnson as the club's interim coach ahead of next season in the Premier Soccer League.

The South African tactician was appointed as caretaker coach in October 2023 after the club parted ways with Molefi Ntseki after a dismal spell in charge.

However, Johnson has also struggled since taking charge of Amakhosi, with the historic side only managing five wins in the 15 games he has been coach.
