Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has declared the club's permanent penalty taker after his players appeared to fight for a spot kick during their Premier League meeting with Everton.

The Blues, who have endured a mixed run of form and results, were back in action in the EPL on Monday night when they hosted relegation battlers Everton at Stamford Bridge.

The match saw the West Londoners demolish Sean Dyche's men 6-0, with Cole Palmer the man of the moment after he netted four times.

Palmer opened the scoring for the hosts in the 13th minute before he doubled the advantage five minutes later.

He made it 3-0 in the 29th minute, with Nicolas Jackson joining the goal-fest on the stroke of halftime.

Alfie Gilchrist went on to get his name on the scoresheet at stoppage time as Chelsea stormed to a momentous win.

However, the victory was clouded by an ugly moment in the second half after Chelsea stars appeared to fight for a penalty.

SPORTbible reports that the argument pitted Jackson, Palmer, and Noni Madueke, who wanted to take the spot kick before the intervention of Conor Gallagher.

Palmer went on to take the resulting spot kick, successfully converting it to score his fourth goal of the match.

Pochettino names Chelsea's penalty taker

In a move aimed at avoiding a similar incident taking place in the future, Pochettino has now declared the club's permanent penalty taker.

Speaking after the match, the Argentine boss made it clear that Palmer will be Chelsea's sole penalty-taker going forward.

“Palmer is the penalty taker. It won’t happen again, can’t behave like kids again. It’s a shame. I told the players this is the last time I will accept this type of behaviour. This is not a joke," Poch said via Fabrizio Romano.
“Again, very clear. Cole Palmer is the penalty taker," he added.

Palmer makes Chelsea history

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Palmer breaking an incredible Chelsea record previously held by Didier Drogba and Eidur Gudjohnsen.

The Englishman has been in fantastic shape since he joined the Blues from rivals Manchester City in the summer of 2023.
