Cole Palmer has broken an incredible Chelsea record previously held by Didier Drogba and Eidur Gudjohnsen.

The Englishman has been in fantastic shape since he joined the Blues from rivals Manchester City in the summer of 2023.

To put his contribution into perspective, Palmer has arguably been Chelsea's shining light amid the club's mixed run of form and results.

The star midfielder was once again the man of the moment during his side's Premier League meeting with Everton on Monday night, scoring four of Chelsea's six goals.

Palmer scored three of his goals in the first half before he crowned his impressive performance with his fourth strike in the 64th minute from the penalty spot.

Palmer sets incredible Chelsea record

According to SPORTbible, Palmer's spectacular performance in the match saw him set a new record for the West London club.

The publication reports that the former City ace is now the first Chelsea player to score in seven consecutive Premier League matches at Stamford Bridge.

The previous record of six goals on the bounce was set by Gudjohnsen in 2002 before Drogba equalled it five years later.

Palmer has also scored hat-tricks in back-to-back home games, having put rivals Manchester United to the sword with a treble of goals in a 4-3 dramatic win for Chelsea earlier in April.

The youngster's impressive performance against Chelsea on Monday night helped boost his side's slim hopes of securing a European football spot at the end of the season.

The Stamford Bridge dwellers now sit ninth in the standings with 47 points after 31 rounds of matches.

The Mauricio Pochettino-tutored side will be back in action on Saturday, April 20, when they take on Manchester City in the semi-final of their FA Cup tie.
