Cole Palmer continues to underscore why he has been rated by many as Chelsea's most important player this season, with four goals against Everton, which etched his name in the sands of time.

The Englishman curled home a brilliant effort to give Mauricio Pochettino's men the lead before grabbing his second of the evening five minutes later. He completed his treble before the half-hour mark, then added a fourth after the break.

Palmer latched onto a pass from Nicolas Jackson before unleashing a one-time effort just outside the box. He soon added his personal brace and his side's second five minutes after his opener.

The 21-year-old then completed his second hat-trick of the campaign after he benefited from a calamitous mistake by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

He then added his fourth of the evening from the spot, becoming the first Chelsea star to reach this milestone since Frank Lampard in 2010, as reported by the Premier League.

According to Transfermarkt, the Manchester City academy graduate has scored 20 goals in 28 Premier League appearances this season, level with Erling Haaland.

Fans heap praise for red-hot Cole Palmer

After his latest feat for the Blues, tributes have poured in celebrating the former Manchester City forward.

"Cole Palmer is utterly outrageous. What a goal that is!"

In the same vein, @FelixJohnston, described Palmer as his only joy:

"The nutmeg, the back heel one-two with Jackson & then an exceptional finish. Cole Palmer, you are my only joy."

@OliviaBuzaglo towed the same path as @FelixJohnston

"Nah! That is absolutely ridiculous. The nutmeg, the little flick, the one-touch finish. Cole Palmer is out of this world.

@EmenaIo hailed the Chelsea star as the 'best player' in the world right now:

"Cole Palmer is the best player in the world right now. No one even comes close. Outrageous skill."

@FPL__Raptor added:

Cole Palmer shatters Chelsea record

Sports Brief also reported on Cole Palmer shattering a remarkable Chelsea record previously held by Didier Drogba and Eidur Gudjohnsen.

The former City star is now the first Chelsea player to score in seven consecutive Premier League matches at Stamford Bridge.

This surpasses the previous record of six consecutive goals set by Gudjohnsen in 2002, a feat later matched by Drogba five years later.
